The American Brahman Headquarters describe American Brahman cattle as number one ‘in hybrid vigour, heat tolerance and efficiency compared to all other beef breeds.’
Brahman cattle can adapt well to any climate, particularly locations with high temperatures and humidity. They have short hair, a glossy coat that reflects the light, dark pigmented skin, and special sweat glands to keep them cool in the heat. Healthy and resistant to parasites, Brahmans are an intelligent, docile breed with a friendly nature.
Characterised by a large hump over the shoulder and neck, and floppy ears, Brahmans vary in colour from very light grey or red to almost black. Our herd at Annavale Brahmans is a pure grey herd. Calves are small at birth and grow very rapidly, weaning at weights comparable to other breeds.
We have been successfully showing our bulls at the Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale since 2015. You can also see the fine bulls we have available for sale at the Gold City Brahman Sale in Charters Towers.
